What's The Herd ?

The HERD is the men of Venture Christian Church coming forward in unity and transforming each man into “God’s man”–a man in the likeness of Jesus Christ. As God’s men, we are stronger together.

As men, there are two ways to go about your life: smooth, residential, safe and boring; or off-road, twisting, riskier and exciting. Men love to talk about overcoming fears, taking bigger than average risks and living to tell about them. But without taking risks and overcoming the challenges of life, we are in danger of becoming “soft” as a man – just like an athlete who fails to train himself for the competition that lies ahead.

We get soft when we live too comfortably, stay unchallenged, and stop testing ourselves. We get soft when we stop taking risks, ceasing to stretch ourselves beyond our limits to reach a goal. We get soft when we succumb to our fears of failure, the unknown or even success. We get soft when we prefer to sit on the sidelines rather than get into the game.

God is looking for men who are aggressive about His purposes and are built in the mold of His son. These are men who have distaste for the middle ground. These are men who desire to make a difference in their family, their church, their workplace and in their community. These are men who take hold of life and realize that they need to be more aggressive in their personal spiritual growth. These are men who realize that the time is now. They are focused on finishing strong and looking to risk more for God rather than less.

How Do I Get Into The HERD?

Well, if you're a man at Venture Christian Church, you are already in The HERD. But making the team is much different than getting in the game. The HERD is made up of men actively seeking God's purpose and power in their lives to move forward in their faith and become the man God wants them to be. The men of The HERD are willing to lift you up and support you in your daily walk with the Lord. In The HERD you will find men who are progressing personally, spiritually, and relationally as they learn how to become the man they were created to be - God's man.
